moving up & out

Chinatown!
I'm wearing a thrifted vintage dress, garage sale sweater, hand me down purse from my mom, and shoes from TJ Maxx.
P.S. I picked up an adorable silk robe and a pillow that looks like a piece of sushi here.
San Francisco
This is a photo of supposedly the most crooked street in the world, Lombard Street.
Here i'm wearing a shirt from a garage sale and a garage sale cardigan as well.
Jeepers was frolicking on the beach.
Northern California vineyards
I would love to introduce you to one of my favorite, most comfortable dress I own.
I picked up this Free People dress about four years ago at a Nordstrom's Rack and have gotten so much use out of it.
The purse is yet another hand-me-down from my momma.
This post is a photo diary of my week's adventures with my family in Northern California before they dropped me off at college.
Thanks for viewing!

fresh start

I woke up quite early this morning for my hair cut but I guess that's what I get for waiting till the last minute to schedule my appointment. Today I've been organizing, cleaning, and getting things ready before I ship off to college. I'm quite the last-minute kinda person which ends up biting me in the ass most of the time.
The dress is from a garage sale.
I've had the shoes for many, many years and bought them at target... it's going to be a sad day with those suckers break.
AND the necklace I bought a couple of years ago at Betsey Johnson.

They've got more bounce in California

Sneezin'
I need to live in Santa Monica. Period. End of story. It's going to happen at some point in my life. For several years my family has vacationed in Santa Monica, particularly at a cute, older, 1950s looking hotel called the Cal Mar. Just this last monday and tuesday I went on a short road trip with my sister, her friend from school, and our friend, Lise, from Norway/London to Santa Monica... unfortunately we didn't get to stay at our traditional hotel but we still stayed in the wonderful city of Santa Monica. We spent one day at the Santa Monica beach and by night, we ventured off to Hollywood for some dinner at Le petit four. Oh yeah and we just happened to drive by the playboy mansion and see a bunny, all decked out in her playboy gear, walking her dog by the mansion. haha We're such tourists.
Anyways, I had a great time and envy everyone who is lucky enough to afford the most beautiful houses  that grace the Southern California turf.
Above, I'm wearing an H&M band-style jacket, a dress I picked up at a thrift store, and my toms.
In another outfit, i've got on the same jacket, an H&M tank, and Levi shorts that I originally bought as jeans at a thrift store and destroyed into shorts... definitely my most successful pair.
The three buttons on my jacket are from a venice beach vender which cost 50 cents a piece... good deal.
adios amigos, I've got a hair appointment at 8am tomorrow. Aye, aye!

Good Buy Summer

Summer vacation is coming to an end and, unfortunately, I didn't get many posts in. Part of this could have been because it was so damn hot I didn't even want to wear clothes! No worries, once I get all settled in college, the weather will be beautiful and so will the campus which will make for fun posts.
Here are a few of my good "buys" of the summer.
Nail stickers from Sephora
I got them a year ago and haven't used them until just a week ago they cost $16 dollars I think.
The package said the life of the stickers was 1-2 days which was the truth for my experience with them.
They were a bit annoying but I think these are prime for special events where you're going to be wearing   them for just a day. Recently, Sephora came out with a longer lasting line of nail stickers which probably work nicely. Sephora is a pretty trustworthy company.
Just my two cents on nail stickers.xo
My new sushi necklace.
I bought this at a hip little store called Pop Deluxe on State street in Madison, WI.
I actually had an eye on this necklace for about a year but it was always a little out of my price range. This summer I noticed that it was 75% off and walked out of the store with a $20 work of art sushi necklace. It is so detailed, I love it!
So when Zac and I went for sushi I really couldn't resist not to wear it.
Circle Glasses= my favorite
These glasses cost me one dollar.
Zac and I were doing a little shopping at H&M and noticed a whole section in the accessory department was dedicated to $1 sunglasses. We each both bought three.

Daisy Bike
This beautiful new bike is my set of wheels for the next year.
I'm in love.
The yellow frame looks soo good with the green rims and white wall tires!
I do have a basket but unfortunately Jeepers wont be cruising with me in it when I head to college.
Oh and in this photo i'm wearing a vintage crochet top given to me by my aunt and a yellow skirt that used to be my sister's.
My American Apparel swimsuit.
This suit treated me well this season.
All except the awkward tan lines that it marked me with.
Check out more views and colors of this suit HERE.

enjoy the pool weather while it's still here!

P.S. Isn't Pattie Boyd soo cute?

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

Wow, my standards for a wedding are set pretty high after going to this one. As you can see from the above photos, the wedding of a family friend's daughter I attended last night was beautiful.
The reception was held at the father of the bride's resort, the Kalahari Resort, which is located in Wisconsin Dells and is home of the world's largest indoor waterpark.

Good news! I bought my first pair of Tom's for the occasion of the wedding. Good excuse, right? I decided to go with the black corduroy wedges which took a little breaking in but are so comfortable now. The whole idea of Tom's shoes are awesome too.. Check out the movement if you're unfamiliar with it: One for One. The dress I bought at the same store as the Toms at a store called Shoo located on State street in Madison, WI. It's a vintage little dress and wasn't a bad price either ($25). Also, to make the dress flow a little better with the black wedges I tied a satin ribbon around it.
The bag is featured in my last post.

P.S. These things are god when it comes to tackling painful, blister making shoes that have yet to be broken in.

papa's got a brand new bag

Hey there, its been a while since i've posted... hanging out in Costa Rica for two weeks can do that to ya I guess.
Here I am, back in Wisconsin. Today my mom and I went on a little adventure to the cities of Green Lake, Ripon, and Princeton to feed our antique/vintage addictions. As a result, I ended up with this lovely vintage floral purse found at an antique store with the reasonable price tag of 12 bucks.
The rest of the outfit goes as follows:
Sun Hat: new at forever21
 GAP Jean Dress: thrift store
Shoes: I'm sure you've spotted these shoes a few times in my posts... they're just too good to leave behind.

enjoy the sun!

I Start to Run

Here's an outfit from yesterday.
I didn't really have the time or energy to publish this post last night after getting back from the Summerfest, so, here it is.
During the day time yesterday, we went and visited the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum in Milwaukee. Which is so beautiful by the way! The home used to belong to the Smith family who designed it after returning from their honeymoon in Italy and man, the Italian influence is very noticeable . In the first two photos, if you look in the background, you can see the long set of water stairs. So awesome, right?
On this venture today, I donned a vintage top that i'm pretty sure I bought at a thrift store.
I bought the skirt about three years ago at a Charlotte Russe.
Now the shoes are a bit more interesting. I found these vintage shoes, covered in dust, in one of my relative's old farmhouse attic. So I hosed them off and, walah! Good as new.

el agua

Traveled down to Chicago to drop off my foreign exchange sister at the airport today with my family.
We then journeyed up to Milwaukee, WI to meet up with some family friends. These photos were taken today on a beach of Lake Michigan... What a beautiful day! You can't really see the clouds too well in this photos because it's a bit over exposed in the background but they were soo perfect.
I wanted to be comfy today because I was running on 2 hours of sleep so this outfit worked out nicely.
The vintage sequin vest is vintage of a garage sale and can be seen in a previous post, Sailor Circus.
The tank top is one that I found at a thrift store and the skirt also was recently discovered at a thrift store here in Wisconsin. Ooo and the shoes I bought last year on sale at anthropologie. They actually come with detachable, big red pom poms that I took off today because they were too noisy when my long skirt brushed against them.
Summerfest tomorrow... au revoir !

where the water tastes like wine

This is my outfit of yesterday. It's really quite simple; a Lacoste dress found at a thrift store, Target sandals and purse.
Don't you love the background of this photo?
Well I do. I'm in Wisconsin on vacation. I've been coming back here each summer ever since I can remember and have loved every month of it. I love that there's so many old buildings, places and things that haven't been touched in years. Oh yeah, and the thrift stores are AWESOME.
Time to unpack the clothes I brought back here.
Sorry if the next couple months of outfit posts don't quite compare to my previous ones but it's really hard while packing to project what i'm going to feel like wearing and fit it all into a bag that has to weight less than 40lbs aye aye!

Graduation

I Graduated on Thursday, Woo! Now the rest of my life is up to me... weird. These past couple of days i've been busy with graduation parties but I will try to fit in an outfit post sometime soon. Today I actually have four parties to attend and my party is tomorrow. There will be a DJ, swimming, and DOZENS of cupcakes. Some of you readers may not be attending my party but you can czech out some of the DJ's mixes and some photography (here).
Which also reminds me of another item on my to do list which is to publish a post of my boyfriend, Zac's, music. Here's a link to his bandcamp for the time being. Bazookazac.bandcamp.com

A Simple Pleasure

My senior year is finally coming to an end... my last day of class is tomorrow and graduation is creepin up on June 9th. This photo was taken at one of my favorite places at school: the wall of ivy.
I am in love with this dress by the way. I picked it up at forever 21 a couple days ago for twenty-five bucks, which was actually a little pricey for me because i'm so used to my $10 and less thrift store finds but i'm sure going to wear it down to the very last thread... it's so breezy and soft.

Cotton Candy

I was washin' cars with Zac and noticed this b-e-a-utiful sunset so we hopped up on his roof, myself in a skirt, mind you, and enjoyed the colors in the sky.
I bought the shirt from a lady who made them herself on Venice Beach a few years back.
The skirt is of Anthropologie's sale rack which reminds me of a cupcake and could use some ironing as you may notice. I guess the peace sign on the shirt takes care of my "i dont iron" look.
Bed time.

nothing but a mirage

Oo these photos were fun! I've got a very talented lady friend, Tatum, who took these.
You can see more from this day (under "queen of the desert")
& check out more of her work at her blog: tbg photography.
P.S. the dress is vintage from a thrift store in Wisconsin.
